NOL Taps Held as CEO
Neptune Orient Lines has tapped Thomas Held as its new group
president and chief executive, replacing David Lim, who stepped down at the end
of October.
Held, former chairman and chief executive of German
logistics firm Schenker, will be based in NOL’s Singapore headquarters.
Klestadt New Counsel for NCBFAA
The National Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association of
America has named Alan R. Klestadt as its new customs counsel.
Klestadt is a partner in the firm of Grunfeld, Desiderio,
Lebowitz, Silverman & Klestadt in New York, specializing in customs law,
NAFTA law and international trade relations. He also has been a licensed
customs broker since 1981. Klestadt is a graduate of New York University and
Hofstra University law school.
Erickson Appointed at History of Containerization Foundation
Stanford A. Erickson has been named chairman of the History
of Containerization Foundation, Inc.
He succeeds Michael B. Berzon, who becomes vice chairman.
The foundation also announced that Alan Clifford, executive
vice president of Mediterranean Shipping Co. (USA), has joined the board.
Port of Portland Hires Pippenger
The Port of Portland has hired Daniel Pippenger, former
deputy commander of Coast Guard Sector Portland, to lead its marine security
team.
<br /><br />
As marine security manager, Pippenger is responsible for
managing security programs at the port’s marine terminals, based on Coast Guard
and Department of Homeland Security directives.
CSCMP Chooses Murphy
Richard Murphy, Jr., president and chief executive of Murphy
Warehouse Co., was elected to the office of board chair elect of the Council of
Supply Chain Management Professionals’ board of directors.
Murphy is currently chair of the executive committee at the
Center for Transportation Studies at the University of Minnesota.
Murphy previously served as the CSCMP Roundtable Chair for
62 roundtables in nine countries, and was a member of CSCMP’s Education
Strategies Committee. He most recently served as CSCMP’s 2004-2005 annual
conference chair.
Orris to Retire from Pacer
Pacer International Chairman and Chief Executive Donald C.
Orris, who is considered the architect of intermodal stacktrain services, will
retire next year.
Orris helped to
establish the stacktrain technology and service network in 1984 while he was
with American President Lines. He served as president of APL’s stacktrain and
intermodal marketing business during his 13 years with the company.
Thomas Appointed CEO of OACL
Ocean Africa Container Lines (OACL) has appointed Andrew
Thomas as its new chief executive officer. Thomas has replaced David Rennie,
who has been tapped as director of Grindrod Freight Services. Previously,
Thomas served as a marketing and new business development executive.
