Despite the connection between warehousing and inventory management, only 6% of shippers outsource their inventory management, while almost two-thirds (61%) happily hand over their warehousing operations to 3PLs.

3PLs were asked what concerns shippers when they assess logistics outsourcing - 77% believed the key concern to be "loss of control". However, only 28% of shippers surveyed saw this as a barrier ¦ instead "perceived service issues" and "perceived higher costs" dissuaded 34%.
