Trade deal with U.S. to strengthen trade ties
Officials from the United States and Bangladesh have signed a bilateral trade pact the promises to boost trade and investment between the two countries. The proposed agreement, which is awaiting approval from both governments, covers such items as non-tariff barriers, intellectual property rights, trade promotion and private investment, and workers' rights, among others.
With total investments of over $1.4 billion, the United States ranks as the biggest foreign investor in Bangladesh, mostly in the energy and power sector.
